Generally no. The main reason is because group coverage has to be offered regardless of health history, while individual/family coverage does not.

If I make a big claim, can the insurance company cancel my policy or raise my premium?
Florida law prohibits you being singled out for a rate increase or cancellation of your individual/family Florida health insurance policy. The only reason they can cancel your policy is if you don't pay the required premium.
I'm getting ready to apply for a new Florida health insurance policy. Should I go to the doctor for a check-up first?
Generally, no. If you need emergency treatment, then by all means go! If it's a routine check-up, it might pay to wait. If the results are a little out of whack, it could cost you more in premiums for the new policy.
